My Life

Eric Morris, Star Coach of Jack Nicholson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, about Jost Heider:

 Jost Heider

For over seven years I worked very closely with Jost Heider and I want to say that I find him to be a DYNAMIC AND CHARISMATIC actor. He is multi-talented in a great number of creative areas!

Never have I seen anyone impact on and influence so many people. His energy and power exude from every pore in his body and when he is in a room he commands the attention of everyone! I completely without hesitation reccommend Jost to anyone as the best in any field that he gives his energy to.

This man has everything we see in a movie star! In working with him I found him to be cooperative, disciplined and very easy to direct.
Sincerely
Eric Morris

Please consider reading the interview with Eric Morris he gave to Susan King, published on August 19, 2007 by Los Angeles Times: " An acting method that goes off script".

What is the story behind Jost Heider? He was born in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Jost Heider's exceptional musical and artistic talent was apparent even as a young child. He dreamt of becoming an actor, and spent every free moment working on realizing this ambition. Jost Heider met actor Wolfgang Arps from the Düsseldorf Theater who believed in and encouraged the young actor. Jost Heider took and passed the entrance exam for Essen Folkwang University.

But the young Steve McQueen fan decided to make the move to Hamburg instead. There he auditioned at the School of Performing Arts, again with success. Determined to make his dream come true, he dedicated himself whole-heartedly to his studies.

Graduation from acting school was followed by two-year engagements at theaters in Wiesbaden, Mainz and Osnabrück. He enjoyed his time in the theater, and also played the lead in a number of television productions while working towards his big breakthrough.

He traveled to Los Angeles for the first time in 1978. "L.A. was like arriving in heaven," Jost Heider recalls. He decided to return to Germany, however where he hit the open road as a member of different traveling theatres for a few years, an independent life he greatly enjoyed. In 1987 he moved to Los Angeles where he was offered a number of acting roles.

The legendary ICM agent Ben Benjamin, the power behind such stars as John Wayne, Lawrence Olivier and Ali McGraw, met Jost Heider and took him on as a client. Through him, Heider got to know famous acting coach Eric Morris.

Eric MorrisMorris's "method acting" had helped such stars as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack Nicholson achieve success. Eric Morris would soon become a supporter and good friend of Jost Heider. In his book, "The Diary of a Professional Experiencer", published in 2007 with a foreword by Arnold Schwarzenegger, he dedicates a notable number of passages (pages 358, 359, 367, 370, 371, 373) to Heider. Eric Morris: "I must describe Jost, so that you can get a mental picture of this man, who would probably qualify for the Reader's Digest feature 'The Most Unforgettable Character I Ever Knew' "

Lee B. Winkler, President of LBW, Inc., Los Angeles, on Nov 4th, 2009: "I have represented the affairs of 150 celebrities as business manager since 1972 AMONG WHOM are ANTHONY HOPKINS, BURT REYNOLDS, LEIGH TAYLOR YOUNG, PAM GREER, KEITH CARRADINE, JAMES WHITMORE, JOHN FORD, SALLY FIELDS, JONATHAN DEMME, RODDY MC DOWALL and STACEY KEACH. I met Jost Heider when he came to Los Angeles many years ago, and I was sorry that he left as I believed he had a fine career ahead. But Jost wanted to return to Germany. I am delighted that Jost has emerged again, and I am as certain now, as I was years ago, that his success as an actor is assured."

Charles Gorgano, actor, on Sept 10th, 2009: "I first met Jost back in the late 80's in Hollywood, Ca. I think he is a great actor. I love his web-site. I'm happy to call him my friend."
